Prince Edward County
Located along the shores of Lake Ontario, Prince Edward County offers a distinctive blend of art, food, wine, and relaxed island charm. Surrounded by the waters of the Bay of Quinte, the County is recognized internationally as a year-round destination.
The journey begins with a scenic drive along the historic Loyalist Parkway, featuring views of the Lake Ontario shoreline and gently rolling rural landscapes. The tour continues through the charming towns of Wellington and Picton, where tourists enjoy waterfront scenery, heritage streetscapes, and a variety of local shops and galleries.
Highlights of the day include a visit to the Wellington Heritage Museum, offering insight into the area’s Quaker settlement and canning industry history, and Oeno Gallery, known for its impressive outdoor sculpture installations set within a vineyard landscape. Time is also included at Arts on Main Gallery in Picton, showcasing contemporary Canadian artists.
We also visit the remarkable Lake on the Mountain, known to the Mohawk people as Onokenoga, or the “Lake of the Gods”—a mysterious elevated lake offering panoramic views over the Bay of Quinte.
Optional wine tastings are available at Huff Estates Winery and Waupoos Estates Winery (additional cost), introducing tourists to the County’s celebrated cool-climate wines. Free time is provided for lunch (not included), either at the restaurant at Huff Estates Winery or in one of the local towns.
The day concludes with a relaxed return, leaving tourists with a well-rounded impression of Prince Edward County’s landscapes, creativity, and flavours.
