The county became the only tourist destination in Canada, which was included in the list of Best Places to Travel in 2015 by Travel + Leisure Magazine. The county took 10th place in a list of 52 destinations, which included Rotterdam, Milan and Las Vegas. The county profile says that this tiny wine-growing region is becoming a "paradise for creative people." The county is famous for its history related to Loyalists who settled back in the late eighteenth century, wonderful nature (including sand dunes, and Lake on the Mountain) and architectural gems of the nineteenth century. In the last twenty to thirty years, viticulture and winemaking have been rapidly developing here, brewers brew craft beer, and cheese-makers create beautiful artisan cheeses. Numerous art galleries and art studios feature works by talented artists and sculptors. In Prince Edward county, festivals are held year-round. This year, the famous Lavender Festival is cancelled, but we will visit magnificent lavender fields and you will marvel at many cultivars of lavender with a miriad of colours, scents and tastes. During our one-day trip, we will taste wine at local wineries and try different varieties of cheese produced here. We will visit several art galleries and a sculpture garden. We will see the famous Lake on the Mountain (the Mohawk people call it Onokenoga, or Lake of the Gods) and the equally famous dunes, drive along the historic loyalist road and visit the picturesque towns of Bloomfield, Wellington and Picton.
